According to the Anchorage Daily News article, an independent security firm discovered that the assailants had installed software right on the credit card terminal in the restaurant! Little Italy is a fantastic restaurant with great food and customer service, but this was a huge security over-sight on their part. How could you allow someone to be with a terminal long enough to install software on it?

My first guess would be it was someone on the inside. Someone that wouldn’t look out-of-place sitting around the terminal. This would be a shot in the dark for a customer to just walk in and do this. They would have to know the brand and model of the terminal and then have enough time install software on it, this would have to be one stealthy person if he wasn’t an employee.

Who knows, this could have been just some random person who came in for lunch one day and noticed a huge opportunity on equipment he had experience with. Either way, this could have and should have been prevented with some due diligence on Little Italy’s part.

I have been meaning to redesign the front page ever since I finished the last redesign of it, about four months ago. Finally, I was able to scrounge up enough free-time to put something together. The new homepage is run by Wordpress which allows me to post stories  a lot easier, so you can expect a lot more updates from me! …whether you like it or not.

Some new things that are right on the horizon for savetable.com include guest restaurant reviews, a new search system, online ordering system, and improvement to the iPhone web app. The development of all these things, of course, do depend on my available free time so things may be delayed just a little bit .

Traffic to savetable.com is higher than it has ever been and I would love to hear from you! Tell me what you like/don’t like, new features you would like, etc. I want this site to be as convenient as possible for people, so help me help you.
